  • Product Details
Bokhara and Kismet Coffee Cup by Denby.
    • Size: 2 7/8" x 3 1/8"
  • Pattern Description

Bokhara was created by Gill Pemberton in 1967 and had the same exotic quality as Arabesque. The design was hand-painted in rich dark colours and featured curving scrolls reminiscent of Islamic art that were actually sculpted into the plates. This was labour intensive and expensive to produce. Two or three years later a simpler screen-printed pattern was created by Glyn Colledge and applied to plates for the American market.

Kismet came later and was issued in 1969 in America (named Bokhara Cluster in England), the design was glazed in a deep rich blue. The plates displayed a hand-painted pattern of five stylised daisy heads with yellow centres designed by Glyn that was later issued as a decal.
