A re issue c. 1940s of the ‘Cattle Scenery’ pattern with a wide rose border and gadrooned edge. The buyer for the German department store Hertie, Mr.Oertel, was instrumental in helping develop the new Gadroon shape and in having Adams create for his market a variation of ‘English Scenic’ depicting horses instead of cows. The pattern #31800 was produced on a Micratex body. Eventually the Gadroon shape was remodelled and the engraving re cut to show horses and in 1962, ‘Cattle Scenery’ was reissued as ‘English Scenic’ pleasing the German market the largest customer for the pattern, and was made even after Adams & Sons was purchased by Wedgwood on 1st January 1966 up until 1983.
